Gallery Simon is pleased to present Bae Hyung-Kyung’s solo exhibition What Still Remains, on view from March 5 through May 2, 2026. In this exhibition, the artist asks what continues to endure after everything else has fallen away. Having devoted her practice to the repeated modeling of the human figure, Bae shapes, attaches, carves, and casts clay through a sustained, almost ascetic process—inscribing traces of existence into her sculptures. The standing groups mostly bow their heads or sit in withdrawn postures, while the spaces between them are charged with taut tension and profound stillness. The solidity of bronze and iron sharply reveals the vulnerability of the body and carries layered accumulations of time. Meanwhile, the lines of her drawings supplement the subtle tremors of emotion that sculpture alone cannot fully contain. This exhibition quietly reflects the “enduring body and mind” that persist even after collapse, offering a contemplative space in which to consider what ultimately remains within us amid an uncertain era.
