Gallery Simon is pleased to present <The Contemplation of Books, The Empathy of Light> by Airan Kang from October 24 to December 14. Airan Kang delves into a profound reflection on the rapid transition into the future brought about by AI and new technologies, through the lens of books as repositories of knowledge. She reimagines the book as an object containing dimensions of volume, breadth, life, and stories, and transforms it into digital books and light, establishing a unique space between reality and the virtual. In this exhibition, Kang introduces her first VR work, “Another World”, taking a step further by exploring the permanence of records within virtual space. Divided into six interconnected “World” each space evokes and expands the meanings behind the words of pioneers, inviting viewers to question what kind of consciousness must guide humanity toward the future, all within a multi-sensory experience. Additionally, Kang portrays a bridge of empathy through light, illustrating a path toward coexistence and interconnectedness rather than individualism and division, and toward harmony and balance rather than exclusion and inequality. Through this, she dramatically represents the world that we must face and embrace in this era of innovation. Kang’s exhibition offers a space where viewers can experience the sublimity of humanity’s potential and the hope embedded in accumulated language, set within the boundaries of fantasy and reality.
