Media artist Ben Rubin founded EAR Studio Inc. in 1998. From 2015 - 2020, Rubin directed the Center for Data Arts at the New School in New York City, where he was a Professor of Design. He is the creator (together with Mark Hansen) of award-winning public artworks, including Listening Post (2002), San Jose Semaphore (2006), Moveable Type (2007), Shakespeare Machine (2012), and That's the Way it Is (2012).
